Amankwaah Bonsu

My name is Amankwaah Bonsu and I am 24 years old. My role this year will be that of the Master Officer & Vice-President of the 60th EFR board. Although I was born in Amsterdam, I spent the majority of my childhood in Almere. Finishing high school meant that there was more to explore than the environment I was used to and that urged me to move to Rotterdam to pursue my further education. It can be daunting to start all over again in a city you barely know, but I do not regret the choice I have made. In fact, I think it is one of the best decisions I have ever made. While doing the bachelor Economics & Business Economics, I realized I also wanted to develop myself outside of academics.

And so my journey at EFR began: I kicked-off this EFR voyage with the START committee, followed by the Activities Committee, High Five committee, the EFR Involve Consultancy committee and lastly, the EFR Inspiration Days committee. Doing these committees at EFR taught me the importance of working together with different people to achieve a common goal, build and strengthen social relationships and more importantly: to just enjoy the ride. All of these learning experiences caused me to sign up to do a board year at EFR: the study association I could call my home and where endless opportunities were awaiting me to develop myself as an individual.

As the Master Officer, I have the pleasure and responsibility to supervise the full-time Master Career Week committee, the EFR Involve Consultancy committee and six part-time Master Study Boards. The Master Career Week is designed to bridge the gap between Erasmus School of Economics students and prospective employers by hosting a unique off-campus recruitment event, completed with bootcamps tailored to specific sectors. The EFR Involve Consultancy committee collaborates with an NGO on a research project, carrying out three weeks of overseas field research in August. Meanwhile, the Master Study Boards organize both social and career-oriented events specifically for students in their respective master’s programs

Coming year promises to be a year in which wonderful memories will be made, shared memories that I will carry around for a lifetime. In my free time I like to binge series, go for walks, snowboard, read books and just hang out with friends. In case you have any questions about me or EFR in general, please feel free to reach out to me. I would be glad to help you out in any way!
