The EFR World Leader Cycle Award

The EFR World Leader Cycle Award is a prestigious honor presented by the Economic Faculty association Rotterdam (EFR) on behalf of the students and faculty at Erasmus University.

Previous award winners

Established in 1996 with its inaugural award presented to Mikhail Gorbachev for his efforts in ending the Cold War, the award recognizes prominent global figures who have made exceptional contributions to international politics, society, and economics.

The goal of the World Leader Cycle is to bridge the gap between today’s global decision-makers and the leaders of tomorrow. By inviting highly influential figures to Rotterdam to accept the award and share their experiences, the event sparks meaningful dialogue, encourages out-of-the-box thinking, and inspires students to become active agents of change.
